The ethos of AIM is to offer music as a unifying force.  The Academy of Indian Music celebrates the diversity offered in Indian music and dance forms by offering courses in music, dance and yoga.

Please note that the minimum age for all courses is 5 years.  We believe it’s never too late to learn music.  In fact our oldest student is 75 years old.  If you have music in your heart, we have a course for you!

Hindustani vocal: The two main vocal traditions in Hindustani music are 'dhrupad', the purest of all, without any embellishment and completely austere in its delivery, and 'khayaal', with a romantic content and elaborate ornamentation.  Taught by a gold medalist from India, The Academy offers both versions of Hindustani vocal music.  You can choose everyday or weekend courses.  Click here for course details

Carnatic vocal: Carnatic music is considered one of the oldest systems of music in the world. The basis of Carnatic music is the system of ragas (melodic scales) and talas (rhythmic cycles). There are seven rhythmic cycles and 72 fundamental ragas. All other ragas are considered to have stemmed from these. An elaborate scheme exists for identifying these scales, known as the 72 Melakarta Ragas.  The Academy of Indian Music (AIM) offers Carnatic vocal lessons at the beginning, intermediate and advance levels.
